RICHMOND, Va. — A winter weather advisory is in effect for northern and western Virginia today (from late this morning through this evening), as moisture coming from the west will override low-level cold air in place here from high pressure parked to our north. If you are in the advised areas, expect slippery roads caused by less than an inch of snow/sleet and less than 0.1″ ice from freezing rain. Tuesday will be noticeably cooler than Monday, with afternoon highs reaching the upper 30s to lower 40s. A warm front will lift north through the area this evening, allowing temperatures to slowly climb into Wednesday morning. By sunrise Wednesday, most of us will be in the upper 30s and lower 40s. Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 10AM to this eve for <1" snow/sleet & <0.1" ice. Expect slippery roads. @CBS6 http://ift.tt/1DP5DEs — Carrie Rose Pace (@SouthernRedRose) March 3, 2015 A result of the warm front will mean a nice warm-up on Wednesday, with highs returning to the 50s and 60s (warmer in southern Virginia, cooler in northern Virginia). The low-level cool air could hang on a little longer in some areas, keeping highs in the 40s. Rain chances increase again late Wednesday from northwest to southeast as the main body of an approaching storm system approaches the eastern U.S. The rain that develops Wednesday night will become heavy at times overnight into early Thursday morning. Don’t be surprised if you hear some rumbles
