Former Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley appeared to take one more step toward a presidential run Sunday morning when he criticized (though not by name) putative Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton on This Week . “The presidency of the United States is not some crown to be passed between two families,” he said, alluding to both the Clintons and to potential GOP candidate Jeb Bush . He also did not seem swayed by Clinton’s frontrunner status, though she leads all potential contenders by record-setting margins. “History is full of times when the inevitable frontrunner is inevitable right up until he or she is no longer inevitable,” O’Malley said, adding that he would decide later in the spring whether to seek the Democratic nomination. O’Malley said the electorate was “looking for people with the proven ability to get things done, rather than putting their finger in the wind and looking for popularity.” Host George Stephanopoulos noted he was “surprised” at how direct O’Malley was being with regard to Clinton.
