Courtesy of commons.wikimedia.org The Easton Arts Council invites the community to enter Easton’s eighth regional open juried fine art show to be held at the Easton Public Library in Easton May 15 through June 12. Show proceeds will aid the library and further the arts in Easton. The call is for original works (abstract or representational) in oil, watercolor, acrylic, pastel, pencil/ charcoal, pen and ink, and mixed media; as well as sculpture. Juror/judges are Kathleen Smits and Heather Whitehouse. Ms. Smits, who received her master’s of fine arts degree from Pratt Institute and master’s of education from the University of Hartford, is a practicing artist and board member of the American Artist Professional League, and vice president of the Art League of New Britain. She is an adjunct instructor of fine and digital art at Manchester Community College. She developed the curriculum for digital video production and editing, where she teaches at the CPTV New Institute for Advanced Media. Heather Whitehouse is coordinator of adult public programming and assistant curator of education at the New Britain Museum of American Art. Awards: Cash for first, second, and Honorable Mention. Ribbons for awards of merit. Entry Deadline: Entry form, payment, and digital submission must be received by April 18. Entry Fee: Members $25 first entry, $5 second entry.
