The postponement of the Partick Thistle v Celtic match today didn’t go down well with supporters on twitter. Heavy overnight rain brought about an early pitch inspection with the postponement- five hours before kick-off- coming before most supporters would have set off for the match. With Thistle hampered by half a dozen injuries some suspicious minds were at work but the re-arranged match should see a number of Ronny Deila’s squad back from injury. The postponement means that Celtic could kick-off their next match- away to Kilmarnock on Monday night- trailing Aberdeen by four points if Derek McInnes’ side win today against St Johnstone and at Motherwell on Sunday. @Mrobertson_1 tweeted: “ Partick Thistle have just called off a game because of a waterlogged pitch. Happy 1985 everyone…” @glasgowaldo added: “Disappointing #partickthistle. Will prob lose £ too “GAME OFF… today’s game against Celtic has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.” Unhappy @Carrie_18x tweeted: “I don’t mind the weather most of the time but now that it’s postponed the Celtic vs Partick Thistle game, I hate you.” Angry drinker @bradleyc1967 added: “No excuse to go to the pub now- thanks very much Partick Thistle.” Despite the weather the match between St Mirren and Kilmarnock is scheduled to go ahead with a 3pm kick off while the synthetic surface at New Douglas Park ensures that the derby between Hamilton and Motherwell goes ahead.
