It absolutely doesn’t feel great what we saw today. I absolutely believed the Cowboys were on equal footing with the Eagles. The tiebreaker had to be a quarterback that was going to be the best on the field. When you enter a game thinking you have a reasonable advantage at a position over a rival and you’re playing at home, to then find yourself humbled across the board, that’s quite disconcerting. I don’t know if there should be full panic. There’s nothing great to pull out of today’s game from a Cowboys perspective and their standing in the NFC East and the NFC. Did the quick turnaround account for the defensive failures? It certainly didn’t help, but it would be a copout. Thursday games are commonplace, the Sunday night to Thursday game is unique, but the idea of teams coming back on three days rest is enough common in football. There’s no question you would like the time to prepare for the unique challenges of the Eagles, but as their division rival, I would have hoped the Cowboys would have spent much the past year preparing for them.
