School government is always tricky. Government is a system that calls for getting in early -- some students have been in government since freshmen year in hopes that the plan of serving in an elected position pans out for the next four years. This system plays out on all levels of student government from high school to college. What started out as the most talked about candidacy in USC history is now running into what is possibly a full-fledge nepotism scandal. This past year, Rini Samprath and her vice president, Jordan Fowler, made headlines when they became the first female president team in the last 10 years at USC -- but now there is an upswell of students who want the two impeached and nepotism is the issue. For one, opponents find it unacceptable that Rini's paid chief of staff is abroad -- and getting paid. Another accusation is that friends of Rini sniped more qualified students of positions within the Undergraduate Student Government cabinet and that candidates that were not elected were not even notified of their loss. This potentially tumultuous turn of events begs two lines of questioning -- one for Rini and her staff and one for the student body. Was there not enough advertising about positions or insufficient information? And if so, how did that happen? Was there a delay in announcing key events or were students just not on top of info?
