Louisiana Governor and potential 2016 candidate Bobby Jindal today strongly defended the religious freedom laws implemented in Indiana and other states, saying there’s no freedom of speech without religious liberty. In a radio appearance today, Jindal said that religious liberty “created America” and “without religious liberty rights, there’s no freedom of speech, freedom of association.” He dismissed liberals throwing out “hypotheticals” and the “misinformation in the media about alleged discrimination.” The problem, Jindal argues, is that the government “is requiring Christians to participate in gay marriage ceremonies” and no one should have to choose between shutting down their businesses and violating their deeply-held religious beliefs.
